Sri Lanka Cricket congratulates Chief Security Advisor of the SLC for been conferred with the honorary rank ‘Marshal of the Air Force’

Sri Lanka Cricket issuing a media release congratulated  Mr. Roshan Goonetileke, the Chief Security Advisor of the SLC for been conferred with the ‘Marshal of the Air Force’ for his outstanding gallantries, meritorious performance and the distinguished services conducted during the humanitarian operation.

“Sri Lanka Cricket is happy to see the elevation, which Roshan has received owing to his outstanding record in the Sri Lanka Air force. A person in the caliber of Roshan deserves an accolade of such,’’ Said Mr. Mohan De Silva, Honorary Secretary of the SLC.

The Former Air Chief of the Sri Lanka Air Force was engaged with Sri Lanka Cricket since May 2019 in order to strengthen SLC’s security program covering all forms of Cricket.

Goonetileke is part of a Sri Lanka Cricket delegation, currently touring Pakistan on a fact finding mission to assess the security situation of that country and to discuss potential future cricketing tours to Pakistan.

Roshan Goonetileke, who joined the Sri Lanka Air Force in 1978 as a helicopter pilot rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshall, Commanded the Air Force and thereafter served as the Chief of Defense Staff, serving the Sri Lankan defense establishment for 35 plus years.
