George Patrick Sisira Kumara followed up his opening round four under par with another repeat 4 under par in the 2nd round to take a commanding lead over N. Amarapathma the closest rival in second place, on a two round aggregate of Even Par. The cut-off for the top 20 and ties, was applied at 162, with the unique feature of 16 year old Taniya Minel Balasuriya playing in the LECTRA SRI LAKA GOLF GRAND PRIX 2019, among the top Amateur Golfers of Sri Lanka, teeing-off the same Tee-boxes, making the ‘cut’ ahead of several ‘Men’.

The second round at the RCGC played long, due to the extension of the Tee Markers to Championship length and Taniya Minel didn’t show much inconvenience, returning a 10 over par 81, for a two round aggregate of 161. Taniya’s gutsy performance augurs well for Sri Lanka junior and ladies Golf and will now earn a WAGR rating points, playing among the Men off the same Tees.

Veteran J M D Indika’s 2 under par 69, pushed himself in to contention in 3rd place at 144. J K Januka Dilshan placed second overnight dropped to 4th place.
