The LECTRA Sri Lanka Golf Union Grand-Prix 2019, by Apparel Technologies, commences on 12th  February 2019, organized and conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union, the registered governing body of Golf in Sri Lanka.

LECTRA Grand-Prix 2019, sponsored by Apparel Technologies of the Bobbin Group of Companies takes over the reins of developing and promoting Sri Lanka Amateur Golf from UTE Sponsors for the past few years named the Pin Fernando Grand Prix.

The new Title sponsor Apparel Technologies of the BOBBIN Group, the sole representative of LECTRA France, have come on board with renewed technology to support Sri Lanka Golf, taking the development of the sport to the next level.

LECTRA France & the BOBBIN Group enter the Golfing arena in Sri Lanka at an opportune moment, on a winning note when M U Chanaka Perera won the 131st Sri Lanka Amateur Championship Title for Sri Lanka, last week.

The LECTRA SLGU Grand Prix by Apparel Technologies will comprise monthly events open to all Amateur Golfers, played over 4 stroke-play rounds, eligible for WAGR (World Amateur Golf Rankings) under the watchful eye of the R&A (Royal & Ancient) governing body of world golf. Each and every year the top ranked Amateur Golfers in the world are ranked on merit performance of the year by R&A and are invited by qualification on Rankings to participate in the APAGC (Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Championship) annually, played in world class venues globally.

2018 Winner of the Annual Grand-Prix was G P Sisira Kumara, who became the Runner-up of the recently concluded Sri Lanka Amateur Championship, whilst 4th Ranked M U Chanaka Perera clinched the Champion title and status for 2018.

And, so the February edition of the LECTRA SLGU Grand Prix 2019 will Tee-off from 12th – 15th  February 2019 at the RCGC, sponsored by the Bobbin Group & Apparel Technologies.

The Press Conference announcing the entrance of LECTRA France by Apparel Technologies of the BOBBIN Group of Companies was held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Café on the 8th last evening. President SLGU ACM Harsha Abeywickrema, reiterated the importance of the Grand-Prix played throughout a calendar year, which is the platform for the best Amateur Golfers of Sri Lanka to come through. 24 year old M U Chanaka Perera who won the recently concluded 131st Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship is a product of this Grand-Prix platform which also produced past National Champions N. Thangaraja 2011& 2012, Mithun Perera, K Prabagaran past winners of the Annual Grand-Prix currently top professionals on the PGTI. (Professional Golf Tour of India)

M U Chanaka Perera and Taniya Minel Balasuriya the current National Champions of Sri Lanka Men & Ladies respectively were also present on the occasion.
